According to AusVELS by studying "The Humanities" Level 3 - 6...

Students develop an understanding of the heritage of their community… They become aware of similarities and differences between people and become more aware of diversity in the wider community as well as the concept of change over time.

"Australia Bound" supports this by covering the following Historical Knowledge and Understandings

Community and Remembrance (L3) The role that people of diverse backgrounds have played in the development and character of the local community.

First Contacts (L4) Stories of the First Fleet, including reasons for the journey, who travelled to Australia, and their experiences following arrival.

The Australian Colonies (L5) Reasons for the establishment of British colonies in Australia after 1800. The nature of convict or colonial presence. The impact of a significant development or event on a colony; for example the Gold Rushes. The reasons people migrated to Australia from Europe and Asia, and the experiences and contributions of a particular migrant group within a colony. The role that a significant individual or group played in shaping a colony.

Australia as a Nation (L6) Key figures and events that led to Australia's Federation. Experiences of Australian democracy and citizenship, including the status and rights of Aboriginal people, migrants, women, and children. Stories of groups of people who migrated to Australia and the reasons they migrated, such as World War II and Australian migration programs since the war. The contribution of individuals and groups, including migrants, to the development of Australian society.
